Ocean Adventures 🐳🌟
Dive in with the ocean’s greatest artist 🎨, why we’re known as the blue planet 🌍 the deepest and tallest 🏔️ places on earth, a fruity salad 🍓🥗, and the beginnings of a story to colour in! 🖼️🌟
Can you guess what creature created this underwater masterpiece and why? 🎨🐳
Meet the ocean’s greatest artist! This dedicated little pufferfish uses his fins to create mesmerising artworks in the sand to impress and attract a mate. These tiny fish work 24 hours a day for a week to create these! 😳 Check out the short video here:
Humans and Earth have many things in common, one is that 71% of earth is covered in water and humans are made up of an average of 60% water! Have you hydrated today? 💦
Our planet is known as the blue planet or ‘pale blue dot’ by astronomers like Carl Sagan because from space we look blue from all the water! 🌍🌌If ever you’re feeling overwhelmed, I recommend this photo of Earth below, it’s humbling and liberating in a way:
Did you know, the deepest part of the ocean is deep enough to completely submerge the tallest mountain on earth - Mount Everest? 🏔️ TheMariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean is approximately 11,000 meters deep, and Mount Everest (known as the roof of the world) is 8,849 meters tall.
To calculate how many you’s it would take standing on top of yourself to reach the height of Mount Everest, here’s how: height of Mount Everest 8849 meters ÷ your height in meters. See, maths has its uses …
If that isn’t cool and crazy enough - 50 million years ago, the land that became the Himalayas was underwater! Scientists have found evidence of marine fossils and sedimentary rocks there.
The Himalaya mountain range was formed when the Indian tectonic Plate (that was covered by the ancient Tethys Sea) collided with the Eurasian tectonic Plate, causing the land to begin pushing upwards 50 million years ago. Tectonic plates are kind of like puzzle pieces that form the Earth’s outer shell. Over millions of years, the towering mountain range as we know it today was created. Pretty surreal huh - what was once an ocean floor made way to become the roof of the world?
Attention super chefs! This is the perfect summer salad, enjoy! 🍓🥗
Artists and storytellers let’s go! 🎨🖼️🌟
“Once upon a time, there lived a mermaid who loved popcorn and space in a magical ocean kingdom. Everything was going swimmingly until one day, a spaceship crashed into the coral reef …”
