Eaton Mess Recipe ๐๐
This classic summertime treat is as fun to make as it is delicious to eat!
Ingredients:
Strawberries
Heavy cream
Vanilla extract
Shop bought meringues
Sugar
Method:
Chop your strawberries and place half in one bowl.
Macerate the other half of your chopped strawberries in another bowl. Macerating means adding some sugar and mixing briefly - it helps the strawberries to naturally release their juice into a syrup. Within 10 minutes of the sugar sitting with the strawberries youโll see the difference in texture. If your strawberries are ripe you wont need too much sugar, 1 teaspoon is enough for a cup of strawberries. We like to squish ours with a fork to create a jammy consistency.
Whip your cream and add a splash of vanilla extract.
Crumble your meringues.
Mix the meringues into the whipped cream. We like to have an almost equal ratio of meringue to whipped cream.
Fold in your fresh and macerated strawberries.
Enjoy!
Games at home!
Feeling sporty? Here are some game ideas you can do at home! On your marks, get set, go!
๐ฅ๐ฅ Egg and spoon race
Daredevils can use a real egg, perhaps a grape will do just fine! Set up a race track/obstacle course at home and place your egg (or grape) on a spoon to see who can get through the race without dropping it!
๐ณ Bowling
Set up some empty water bottles in a triangle and roll a ball to see how many bottles you can knock over or even get a strike!
๐ฏ Bullseye
Set up a target - an empty water bottle works great. Use soft toys/rolled socks to see who can knock it over from a distance.
โ๏ธ โSnowballโ fight
Split into teams, build forts and use crumpled up pieces of paper for your โsnowballโ fight!
๐งป Dining table air hockey
Grab 2 toilet rolls as your paddles, a round lid for your puck, and line your tables edges with books to create a border. Stand on opposite ends of the table and try to slide the puck past your opponents defences!

๐ฅFirst place for the strongest animal goes to โฆ drum roll please!! The Dung Beetle! Dung beetles can lift objects over 1000 times their own weight!!! ๐ฉ
๐ฅThe biggest creature on our planet is the Blue Whale - they can grow to around 30 meters long! Check out this short video of a blue whale encounter! ๐ณ
๐ฅWinner of the long jump is the flea - yup, you read that right - the humble flea. They can leap 50 times their body length โฆ which is incredible, just not ideal for pets.
This is not an image of a flea but a grumpy dog that may have them โฆ ๐
๐ฅNow this one is my personal opinion, but I think Gold for teamwork has got to be awarded to the honeybee. Each hive has around 60,000 honeybees working together in harmony. Now thatโs a lot of moving parts!!! Each honeybee has a distinct role to play and they even have a special waggle dance to communicate location, distance, and quality of food sources. I am also partial to honey. Hereโs a photograph I took, I was lucky enough to try the honey from this beekeepers hive and it was super delicious! So floral and fresh ๐ฏ๐๐ผ
Your turn, which animal would you choose for acrobatics? Maybe a monkey, or a bird swooping and doing loop-de-loops to catch an insect for lunch? How about other sports?
